Finance

Ledgers, journals and tax, posted automatically.

Chart of accounts, ledgers and journals with automatic posting, fiscal years, matching, tax and analysis dimensions.

Finance in Portal is built around one principle: every operational document that has a financial effect produces its journal by configuration, not by hand. Confirmed invoices, receipts, payroll runs and inventory movements are turned into journal entries through posting profiles and account roles, and anything that cannot be posted lands in a failures workbench instead of silently disappearing.

Each legal entity in your group keeps its own books, ledger currency and fiscal calendar. Shared master data such as items, partners and dimensions can be reused across companies, while balances, periods and declarations stay strictly per company.

What you get

Finance in detail

Automatic posting

Posting profiles map document types to account roles. Confirm a document and its journal is generated, balanced and traceable back to the source line.

Payments and banking

AP/AR invoice register, payment runs with approvals, cheques and bank instruments, bank statements, reconciliation and FX revaluation.

Configurable tax engine

Country-agnostic tax schemes, codes, components and determination rules. Withholding, deferred and split-payment VAT, declarations with a filing lock, and importable country tax packs.

Period control

Fiscal years and period gates decide what may still be posted. Closed periods stay closed for every module, not just the ledger.

Analysis dimensions

Dimension policies per module family define which dimensions are required, optional or forbidden on each document line.

Number series everywhere

One numbering engine generates every document number and code, per company, per year, with gap control.

FAQ

Common questions about Finance

Does Portal support multiple currencies?

Yes. Documents carry a transaction currency, ledgers have a ledger currency, exchange rates are maintained per company, and open items can be revalued at period end.

Can we run the operational modules without Finance?

Yes. Inventory, procurement, sales and payroll work on their own. Valuation happens at confirmation and journal posting is optional per company, so Finance can be switched on later without re-entering history.

How is tax configured for our country?

A country tax pack (schemes, codes, rates, determination rules and declaration boxes) is imported as a JSON file, previewed as a diff and then kept up to date as the pack evolves. Locally edited rules are never overwritten silently.
