Every movement, every location, valued in real time.
Items, warehouses and locations, lots and serials, transfers, reservations, physical counts and inventory costing.
Inventory tracks what you have, where it is and what it is worth. Goods receipts, issues, transfers, movement orders, ownership changes and opening inventory are all documents with their own approvals, and on-hand quantities and reservations update the moment a document is confirmed.
Valuation runs at confirmation time, with ranged recalculation when a historical cost changes, so the stock value you see in a report is the stock value in the ledger.
Inventory in detail
Movement documents
Receipts, issues, transfers between warehouses and locations, movement orders and ownership changes, each with status history, attachments and comments.
Lots, serials and units
Lot and serial tracking per item, measurement roles and unit-of-measure conversions that are consistent across purchasing, stock and sales.
Reservations and on-hand
Real-time on-hand and reserved quantities per warehouse and location, so sales and production commit only what is actually available.
Landed costs
Freight, duties and other costs are estimated on the purchase order and allocated to received goods, so item cost reflects what you really paid.
Physical counts
Plan a count, record it on the warehouse floor from the mobile app, review differences and post the adjustments.
Period close and reports
Inventory valuation, aging and movement reports, plus a period close that locks quantities and values for the month.
Common questions about Inventory
Which costing method is used?
Each company has one valuation setup. Costs are computed when a document is confirmed and recalculated over the affected range when an earlier cost changes, which keeps reports and the ledger consistent.
Can inventory be counted from a phone?
Yes. Physical counts and opening stock can be recorded in the Portal mobile app, item by item, directly on the warehouse floor.
Is the inventory module tied to Finance?
No. It works standalone. When Finance is enabled, confirmed movements post to the ledger through posting profiles.
